Careers hub launched for Students on College Website

20.03.19

Tenison Woods College is very excited to launch a new Careers Hub for all students.

At this new link, students can:

  •          Search all Australian University and TAFE courses, accommodation, and career options in one location!  Where a student is uncertain about a future career path, the site features Career Targets which allow students to search on subjects of interest to find possible careers that align, the current and future demand for that job, salary ranges and what qualifications and training are required.
  •          Access the annual calendar for all local, state and national career and open day events
  •          Find current and local job vacancies, including work experience opportunities
  •          Search local and national scholarship opportunities
  •          Read about post-school options including how to apply to university at this link

Whilst all students and parents have access to the site and the above features, all Year 10 to 12 students have additional features available.

These students have been provided with a secure log on so that they can:

  •          Complete career related tests and assessments to find what they are suited to
  •          Identify skills and development areas
  •          Create resumes, cover letters and career plans
  •          Complete Work Health & Safety modules required for work placement

When a Year 10 – 12 student meets with the Careers Counsellor, VET Coordinator or Senior Head of School about career-related matters, details of the discussion will be logged against the student’s career plan, so that the student and school always have a record of what was discussed and agreed as actions and outcomes.

In addition, Year 12 students will remain on the system for one year beyond their leaving date – providing additional support and tools to facilitate their transition to work.

There is a wealth of information available on the website including a dedicated area for parents.  We encourage you – together with your child – to spend some time exploring the website to learn more about the information and tools available to assist with career selection and transition.

You can find the new Careers Hub on the College website under Teaching & Learning/Careers or here.
